It started with one lamp for one flat
In 2019 Ana Ribeiro, a ceramicist, and Duarte Lobo, a lighting engineer, could not find a lamp for their own living room that was warm, well made and fixable. So they made one: a stoneware stem with an opal glass dome. That was Morel.
Six lamps later, the rules are the same. Real materials, parts you can replace, one warm light, and every lamp switched on before it leaves Lisbon.
Four benches, one lamp
Throw
Stems and bases are thrown on two wheels by the window, then dried for a week.
Pleat
Linen is folded wet over a brass template and set overnight. One shade a morning.
Wire
Cables, switches and dimmers are fitted by hand and tested for polarity.
Switch on
Every lamp runs for an hour on the test bench, dimmed from full to off.

The workshop opens to visitors on Saturdays, 10:00 to 16:00, at Rua do Açúcar 12, Lisbon.
